SJC（Stanford Japan Center、スタンフォード日本センター）とは
SJCは米国スタンフォード大学が運営する機関として1990年に誕生しました。日本との関わりを持つ上で必要となる知識?資質を身につけたアメリカの若い世代の育成を目的とした日本留学プログラム*を提供しています。参加学生の専攻は工学、自然科学、経済学、政治学、国際関係学等多岐にわたっていますが、技術系専攻の学生が多いのが特徴です。日本語教育にも力を入れており、来日前にはスタンフォード大学本校において日本語授業の履修が義務づけられている他、来日後は毎週6時間の日本語の授業が必修科目となっています。2006年夏より事務所は同志社大学今出川キャンパスに移転しました。（旧名称： スタンフォード技術革新センター（Stanford Center for Technology and Innovation, SCTI）)

Established in 1990, the Stanford Japan Center (SJC)* operated by Stanford University in the United States offers a Japanese studies program which aims to instill U.S. students with the knowledge and skills necessary to interact with Japan. Although the majority of students major in engineering-related fields, the curriculum also covers a diverse range of other fields, including the natural sciences, economics, political science, and international relations. Japanese language education is also a major element of the program, with six hours of Japanese language classes per week. Students are also required to study Japanese language at Stanford University prior to their arrival in Japan. The SJC office is located on the Imadegawa Campus of Doshisha University, and lectures are conducted in the Meitokukan Building.
The program also allows 91视频 students to attend lectures. Recent courses have included The Japanese Education System: A Model for the U.S.?, Political Economy of Japan, Postwar Japanese Society, Governing Japan: A Comparative Perspective, Religion and Japanese Culture, Contemporary Japanese Religion, Minorities and Immigrants in Contemporary Japan, Japanese Popular Culture and Japan in World War II: Experiences and Memory.
