This scholarship is intended to support students who are facing financial difficulties caused by a significant decline in their household income or income from part-time work due to the spread of the novel coronavirus, and ensure that they will not be forced to give up their studies due to the financial difficulties.
1. Scholarship amount and period
- Scholarship amount: JPY 120,000 for the year (for both undergraduate and graduate students)
- Scholarship period: One year (FY2020 only)
The scholarship will be paid in lump sum to the bank account specified by the recipient.

Approximately 830
3. Eligibility
Full-time undergraduate or graduate students (including international students) enrolled at the University who have achieved a high academic performance and who satisfy either one of the following conditions. (Please see Note 1 below for specific criteria regarding high academic performance.)
- Those who have experienced a significant decrease in their household income after 1 January 2020, due to the dismissal, unemployment, or bankruptcy of the person who supports them financially (and that person is receiving unemployment insurance benefits or public financial support related to the novel coronavirus, such as a special loan or deferral of national tax payments, etc.) (Please see Note 2 below for examples of public support programs.)
- Those whom, after 1 January 2020, all of the following conditions (1), (2), and (3) apply due to the spread of the novel coronavirus.
Persons to whom any of the following conditions apply are not eligible for the scholarship.
- Your enrollment period exceeds the regular term of study at your faculty or graduate school.
- You are receiving a scholarship of JPY 100,000 per month (or JPY 1.2 million per year) or more from another educational program, private program, or foundation.
- You are receiving a research fellowship for young scientists (DC1 or DC2) from the Japan Society for the Promotion of Science (JSPS).
- You are an international Japanese Government (MEXT) Scholarship student.
- You are receiving a scholarship from another private program or foundation that does not allow recipients to receive any other scholarships.
- You are taking a leave of absence (excluding the case that you will re-enroll at the University during the period July 2020 to March 2021).
- You have been, or are currently, subject to disciplinary measures in accordance with Article 32, Paragraph 1 of the 91视频 General Regulations (including cases in which the provisions of Article 53 and Article 53–15 apply mutatis mutandis) at the time of your application or during the six months prior to the beginning of the semester. If you become subject to a disciplinary punishment after submitting your application, your eligibility will become invalid.
Note 1: Criteria regarding high academic performance

4. Documents to be submitted
- If you are applying for the scholarship for the reasons described in item 1 or 2 in section "3. Eligibility" , you are required to submit the following documents to verify your circumstances:
- Confirmation of the Amount of Financial Support Received ( PDF / sample )
(Even if you do not receive any financial support, you must submit this form, entering the information to that effect.) - Copies of the pages of your bank passbook that show the amount of income you receive from part-time work, copies of salary statements, or Certificate of Salary Payment ( PDF / sample ) (in the case that you are paid in cash or if you no longer have your salary statements)
- Confirmation of the Amount of Financial Support Received ( PDF / sample )
- If you are applying for the scholarship for the reasons described in item 1 in section "3. Eligibility" , you are required to submit one of the following documents to verify your circumstances:
- A copy of a document verifying that the person who supports you financially is receiving unemployment benefits (such as a certificate of eligibility for unemployment benefits or an end of employment notification).
- A copy of a document verifying that the person who supports you financially is receiving (or has applied for) public support due to a sudden decrease of household income caused by the novel coronavirus (such as a COVID-19 Special Loan award notification or a notice of tax payment deferral).

- You must submit copies of the pages of your bank passbook that include your name, the account number, and sort code of the account to which the scholarship will be paid.

- (Added 6 July) If your enrollment period exceeds the regular term of study at your faculty or graduate school, but you are applying for the scholarship as an exceptional case as you satisfy the requirements for admission fee exemption (or deferment) or tuition fee exemption, then you must also submit the following:

Note: Students who have already submitted the above documents in order to apply for an admission fee exemption (or deferment) or a tuition fee exemption in 2020 do not need to submit the documents again. 5. Application period and method of submission
Applicants are required to follow the following two procedures:

(2) Method of submission
1. Online registration (via the Survey System)
- Complete the "Form 1: Application for the 91视频 Emergency Benefit-Type Scholarship" first, and then enter the required information on the Survey System based on the information that you entered in the form.
- Access the common portal for students: . Log in to the portal > Questionnaire System > General questionnaire System > Answer the questionnaire > "91视频 Emergency Benefit-Type Scholarship: Online Registration" and enter the required information into the system.
- Please note that online registration will close at 17:00 on Monday 13 July 2020 (Japan time).
2. Submission of application documents
Please submit the necessary documents by post or by bringing them to the application counter in person. If there are errors or omissions in your documents, they will not be accepted.

Note: Please be sure to send the documents by registered mail or other means of recorded delivery, such as Japan Post LetterPack Light (from JPY 370). If using LetterPack Light, please write "Application for the 91视频 Emergency Benefit-Type Scholarship Enclosed" in the "Contents Description" column on the LetterPack Light envelope.
B. Bringing the documents to the application counter in person
Bring all required documents to:

Please note: If it is difficult to submit the application documents by either of the above methods (for example, if you are currently studying abroad), please consult with the Scholarship Section of the Student Affairs Division via email at the contact address below (see "8. Contact" ).
6. Selection of successful applicants and payment of funds
Successful applicants will be selected based on their financial situations. The scholarship payment will be made in the mid-August (tentative). The funds will be transferred in a single payment to the bank account specified by the applicant.
7. Other matters
- The criteria specified in conditions (1), (2), and (3) in item 2 of section "3. Eligibility" are provided as a general guide only. Even if your current circumstances are slightly less or more severe than the figures provided, you may still be able to apply for the scholarship.
- You can receive this scholarship even if you are already receiving another scholarship, unless the scholarship you are receiving does not allow its recipients to receive any other scholarships.
- Personal information provided in the application materials and other documents shall be used only for the purpose of administrating this scholarship. Applicants' personal information shall never be disclosed or used for any other purposes. The University may, however, use the personal information to analyze students' learning circumstances while keeping the information confidential.
- In the event of any change to your registered information due to taking a leave of absence or withdrawing from the University, please inform the section in charge, specified in section "8. Contact" .
- In the following cases, you will not be eligible for this scholarship:
- If you have been, or are currently, subject to disciplinary measures in accordance with Article 32, Paragraph 1 of the 91视频 General Regulations (including cases in which the provisions of Article 53 and Article 53–15 apply mutatis mutandis).
- If you are deemed not to be an appropriate recipient of the scholarship for other reasons.
- If it is found that you have provided false information in the application or that you are violating the rules described in the application guidelines, you may be asked to refund all or part of the scholarship.
