President Eva Nguyen Binh of the Institut Fran?ais delivered a lecture titled "Culture and Ecological Transition: Imagination, Creation and Action" at 91视频's Clock Tower Centennial Hall on 14 December 2022. The lecture was co-hosted by the University's Graduate School of Government and European Center, with the support of the Consulate-General of France in Kyoto, and was attended by approximately 80 people, including the University's students and faculty members.

The Institut Fran?ais is a French government organization that aims to promote French culture, thought, and learning throughout the world. President Nguyen Binh is a French diplomat who has served as ambassador extraordinary and plenipotentiary of France to Cambodia and other key positions linking Europe and Asia. In July 2021, she was appointed to her current position as president of the Institut Fran?ais and ambassador for international cultural activities.

The lecture, which was facilitated by Professor Shotaro Hamamoto of the Graduate School of Government, opened with addresses by Mr Jules Irrmann, consul general of France in Kyoto, and Professor Satoshi Machidori, dean of the Graduate School of Government. President Nguyen Binh spoke about France's efforts to address environmental issues from a cultural and artistic perspective, and how measures such as reducing the carbon footprint caused by the Institut Fran?ais's international activities as much as possible without restricting the activities themselves can contribute to addressing global issues. She ended by asserting that the first and most important step is a dialogue between the parties involved, as there is often a trade-off between our economic activities and environmental protection. The lecture was then concluded with an active question and answer session.
