The Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology of Japan (MEXT) is implementing a second round of application for the Emergency Student Support Handout for Continuing Studies. The program provides financial assistance to students who face difficulty continuing their studies due to a significant decrease in their household income or income from part-time work due to the spread of the novel coronavirus. 91视频 is accepting applications for the program as detailed below.
1. Eligibility
Full-time undergraduate and graduate students (including international students) who face difficulty continuing their studies due to a significant decrease in their household income or income from part-time work due to the spread of the novel coronavirus.
For further details, please see "5. Handout Recipient Requirements (Criteria)" on page 4 of the "Emergency Student Support Handout for Continuing Studies: Application Guide (for Students)".

3. Application method and required documents
Applicants are required to complete the following two procedures to apply for the emergency support:
(1) Online registration (through the Questionnaire System)
(2) Submission of the required documents

Log in to the Common Portal for All Students (). Select "Questionnaire System" -> "General Questionnaire System" -> "Respond to Survey" -> "MEXT Emergency Student Support Online Registration". Enter the required information in the online registration form.
Please note that online registration will be closed at 17:00 (Japan time) on Tuesday 15 February 2022.
(2) Submission of the required documents
For details of how to apply and how to complete the forms, please see the Application Guide and sample application forms listed in the "Reference materials" below. Please be sure to complete the forms correctly without any errors or omissions, and submit all necessary documents.

Copies of the pages of your bank passbook that include your name and the account number, etc (the account code and account number, etc, in the case of a Japan Post Bank account), for the bank account to which the emergency support fund will be paid. (Note: if you are currently receiving a JASSO scholarship and wish to receive the emergency support fund through the same bank account as the scholarship, you do not need to submit the bank passbook copies.)

Students living in the University's dormitories are required to have their guardian (parent, grandparent, siblings, etc) complete this form and submit it with their application, as evidence that they are living outside of the family home.
Note: Although MEXT's Application Guide describes some documents as being required "if available to submit", all of the documents are required for the eligibility screening by 91视频. Please therefore submit all of the required documents (unless there is an unavoidable reason).
Notes regarding required documents:
- Please submit copies of the pages of your bank passbook, as evidence of item "2) You have lost a significant amount (50% or more compared to the months prior to the coronavirus) of part-time income due to the coronavirus, and the situation has not been improved in this year". Please enter the "month of decrease (50% or more)" in the relevant places in the copies. For further details, please see the item "Documents proving that your part-time income has been affected by the coronavirus and you are in one of the situations 1) to 3)" in section "3. Documentation providing you meet the handout criteria" on page 6 of MEXT's Application guide.
- If you submit copies of your bank passbook as evidence of your part-time income or the amount of financial support received, please indicate the relevant parts with a highlight pen, etc.

From Tuesday 8 February 2022 start 8:30 (Japan time) to Tuesday 15 February 2022 close 17:00 (Japan time)
Document submission period
From Tuesday 8 February 2022, 17:00 (Japan time) to Tuesday 15 February 2022

In order to prevent the spread of the new coronavirus, please submit your documents by post.

- Please be sure to send them by registered mail or other means of recorded delivery, such as Japan Post LetterPack Light (JPY 370). If using the LetterPack Light, please write "Application for Emergency Student Support Handout Enclosed" in the "Contents Description" column on the LetterPack Light envelope.

5. Points to note
- The amount of funding to provide support under this program is limited for each university. Therefore, some applicants may not be selected to receive support through the program.
- The criteria described in "5. Handout Recipient Requirements (Criteria)" of the MEXT Application Guide, such as the ratios of decrease in household income or income from part-time work, are provided as a general guide only. Even if the ratio of decrease is slightly less than described in the criteria, you may still be able to apply for the program. Please try to prepare the necessary documents to support your eligibility and apply for the program.
- If your application is not selected for the program, the University will notify you directly.
- If your application is selected for the program, the cash will be transferred to your bank account, and the University will not notify of the result directly.
- If any false information is found in your application, you may be required to refund the funds. Please be sure to prepare all necessary documents to support your eligibility, and complete the application and other forms correctly without any errors or omissions.
